MAGGOTS

Had a rather interesting day at work today. One of the dogs had 2 maggot wounds. Yes that's right, you didn't see wrongly, it's a 2 that I typed just now. One at the anus and another at the fore leg. It's really gross and disgusting especially the one at the anus. Basically, the wound is just one giant hole, as if someone stabbed it with a huge cylinder or something. And it's bloody. Oh and it smells of rotting meat cause apparently some of his flesh is rotting.

We didn't realize that it's a maggot wound at first till we got our sergeant to check. We were highly grossed out after that. Imagine having a really really deep wound and MAGGOTS CRAWLING ALL AROUND IN IT. *Ouch* Anyway, we were told to observe and learn how to treat a maggot wound so that we don't need to keep relying on our superiors in the future.

Step 1 - Mix Hydrogen Peroxide with some weird powder and use a syringe (no not the ones with needles) and squirt the mixture into the wound. Make sure you squirt LOTS of it. Apparently maggots hate this stuff and would hence crawl out from the wound.

Step 2 - This step is the most disgusting part of all. Take a pincer and start pulling out the maggots. It's quite tough at the beginning cause it's hard to differentiate maggots and the poor dog's flesh. Even though it's gross, pulling maggots out turned out to be quite fun after you get past the oh-my-gosh-this-is-so-gross stage.

Step 3 - Repeat step 1 and 2 since his wound would be so bloody by now that you can't see nuts in there. More if the mixture is also needed to flush out more maggots.

Step 4 - Use cotton wool to pinch and dab the wound to get more maggots out.

Step 5 onwards - I can't really remember but I think they put iodine and some other medicine to the wound.

At the end, we managed to extract close to 20 maggots! But we still need to make sure that all the maggots are extracted so we have to do the same thing tomorrow.

(The following text are highly explicit. Read at your own risk)

*I DID WARN YOU THERE'S NO TURNING BACK*

After we treated the dog, our sergeant told us that last time there was this dog that had a maggot wound in her vagina. But they could not get all the maggots out, so they had to cut it before they can extract out all the maggots.

*End of explicit material*

After the whole episode, our big boss sent in the SWAT team to deal with the situation. So armed with our trusty weapon, we infiltrated the kennels and started swatting at enemy houseflies. Haha.

Oh since I'm on the whole insect/bug topic, I dreamt that I was Spiderman last night. I was swinging around buildings with my web thingy and man the feeling was super shiok! I wish I can do that in real life.

Bala boom Bsh!

My third post and I'm getting lazy to blog already... I knew I wouldn't last long. Maybe someone should challenge me to keep this blog alive for a certain period of time. I think challenges/projects give me much more motivation.

Have this sudden urge to start learning how to play drums again. I mean I always wanted to take lessons again but it just never happened. My precious guitar distracted me and now I want to start taking lessons again cause my drums totally sucks now. O and I found this drum school that teaches you how to play in a worship setting! Always wanted to learn how to play from a christian drummer cos I hope that one day, I'll be on stage playing for my church! (: But the problem is that the fees are very expensive. Not that I'm not willing to spend that money, but I really need to save up as much money as possible for my overseas education. In case I haven't mentioned this before, I've decided to go study in Australia if my application to NUS and NTU are not accepted next year. Money woes... Sigh....

P.S. I miss my JC friends.... I should go meet them up soon.

Nip/Tuck

My blog is finally done up! Had difficulties changing the template but after hours of frustration, pride gave in and I googled it. From then on everything managed to be completed in 20 minutes. No more sucky template skin! Whoo Hoo!

Went to watch Tropic Thunder with JY today. It's a Ben Stiller comedy and it's pretty good, cept that it's really vulgar and gory. Picture a guy trying to shuff his spilled intestines back into his body after he was cut by a bayonet. Grossed out yet? Then imagine Ben Stiller grabbing a severed head and dipping his finger into the bloody neck and licking it. Good thing it's only gory at the start of the show. It gets better as the show goes on. Overall, I think it's a pretty good show but Zoolander is still better! Zoolander rocks!

Had some out camp run today at the most ulu-ated park in Singapore: Sembawang Park. There's only one bus service there that goes to Sembawang MRT station. But since there were like a million and one people waiting for the bus, we (as in the dog wing people or the dog people if you prefer) decided to walk to the main road. 15 minutes of walking time later, we reached the main road where the bus stop there had 2 bus services, a 100% increase. Not bad. Next time they organise an outcamp run, I think they should take the uluness of the place into consideration. But then again, I would rather spend an afternoon travelling to that God forsaken place to run then to do sai kang. I think I should learn to be more thankful and stop complaining.

First post! (:

Oh gosh! I actually have a blog! Thought I will never go into blogging again but I have this sudden urge to start a blog. It's not a sudden irrational urge but I do have my reasons.

1) I thought it would be nice to record down stuff so you can actually look back at your own life when you're older. (God I sound like I'm 60 or something)

2) Keep my friends (thats you) updated about my life.

3) To have a place to rant and rant and rant... (:

After weighing out all the pros and cons, or rather con which is that it's tedious to keep a blog (What can I say? I'm a lazy boy.) , I decided to start one. Anyway, FYI, I did have a blog once but that was like eons ago and there were like 3 posts or something? haha. Let's see how long I'll last this time. I get the feeling that I'll get bored of it after like a month. I guess time will reveal a man's heart.

P.S. I'm trying to get a blogskin now but looking for one that dosen't look emoish, girly (why does 70% of blog skins fall under this category?), too colorful/dull/complicated etc etc proves a task too frustrating and time consuming for a guy who wants to play Team Fortress 2! Guess I'll stick with this skin for the moment.
